Individual Therapy

Family Therapy

Men’s Issues

Partially due to certain gender role expectations of society, many men find themselves in a space where they feel pressured to always be strong, solve problems, and become selfless providers. Childhood issues and other Trauma

In our clinical practice, we understand that an individual has numerous childhood experiences, some of which are processed, yet others untouched or avoided due to the long-lasting effects of such experiences. With that in mind, it is vital to understand that past experiences continue to affect our present, and our approach is centered around helping you to gain insight into them and to find new perspectives. Together, we'll help you explore your journey and develop personalized techniques to empower your healing process via use of techniques such as doing inner child journaling, re-narrating your story via narrative therapy, identifying attachment styles, and examining history of family dynamics in figuring out your thought patterns in the present.

Grief

Loss of a loved one is a reality for many of us in this finite world. Loss can happen in many of ways such as separation, divorce, a move and leave us experiencing emotions such as intense sadness, anxiety, anger, regret, and guilt. In our grief-focused therapy, our primary objective is to create a safe and nurturing environment where we help you to adapt to the loss of a loved one and be able to adjust to a new reality without him or her. Together, we will develop effective coping strategies and healing approaches to support you in your process of recovery and transformation. Such approaches will revolve around stages of grief along with four tasks of mourning which are accepting the reality of loss, processing the pain of grief, adjusting to a world without the deceased and finding an enduring connection with the deceased while embarking on a new life.

Children and Adolescents

Whether kids have trauma or are struggling with current stressors, they are in a constant state of trying to find their place in the world while trying to figure themselves out. A qualified professional can help kids and adolescents deal with really hard subjects such as socialization, self-esteem, identity formation, exploration and expression of thoughts and feelings, academic and personal responsibilities, and developing and maintaining secure attachment to those around them. This is when a relationship coach can help individuals identify areas of personal and interpersonal awareness and growth to improve their relationship. Depression & Anxiety

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 out of 6 every adult will have depression at some point in their life and it affects 16 million American adults every year. Depression often causes one to become debilitated in various ways as it leads to decrease in energy, loss of interest in things one used to enjoy, social isolation, loss of hope, negative ruminations, and low daily mood. Other mood disorders like anxiety disorder go hand in hand with depression and causes one to struggle one with intense and uncontrollable feelings of fear, panic, worry, or expectation of an approaching doom’s day. Here at Mental Peaks Therapy, we have the therapy tools to help reduce and control anxiety and depression. ADHD

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders of childhood, and often lasts into adulthood. Some of the most prevalent symptoms are difficulty paying attention, controlling impulsive behavior, being overly active, and inability to complete tasks in a timely fashion, daydreaming, fidgeting, and making careless mistakes. Types of ADHD include Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive Presentation and a Predominantly Inattentive Presentation, and a combination of both hyperactive and inattentive presentation. Some factors for ADHD include genetics, premature delivery, brain injury and alcohol and tobacco usage during pregnancy.
